  • Tomato id. Are these meant to be yellow?

I wonder if anyone might be able to identify these tomatoes? They were unlabelled when I bought them (from Morrisons if that narrows it down?) and while my other toms have been happily turning from green to red these have stuck at a sort of yellow/orange colour. I'm starting to wonder if they are a yellow variety and need to be picked, or if they sould stay put until they go red...

The pics aren't as clear as I would like - they're a bit darker than they appear. They've been this colour for over a week now. Any ideas, please?

Yes, they are a yellow variety and they look ripe

Are they slightly soft. That can indicate ripeness as well as colour.

I to would say, definatly a yellow variety,if they are really soft and squidgy, they gone over a bit,but could be fine fried up,put on toast, best thing to do is pick 1,cut it open see how it performs,if you happy eat it,this way will tell you how ripe is ripe for your taste buds, perhaps you could ask at the shop if they can trace what they were,or do you have the labels ext,

          A nice crop of tomatoes
They do look as if they are a yellow variety, I was going to suggest you pick one to try but Lottie Dotty beat me to it

Thank you all - I gave one a squeeze and it was indeed going a bit soft - it was delicious though! Time to pick the rest and I might try saving some seed

I've enjoyed my plant 'lucky dip' this year - they were reduced to 25p and had no labels so I took a chance on three - they turned out to be one cherry tom, one yellow tom and one yellow courgette (I though I was getting a cucumber!).

I've got a couple of plants just like that Trix, mine are "Golden Sunrise" and are quite delicious, although I do find the skin a bit tough.
