  • Tomato Blight - Using Bordeaux Mixture / Feeding

When I've had blight in the past, it's always been at the end of the season after I've had a good crop, so never used bordeaux mixture before.

Do I use the bordeaux mixture by spraying leaves using a squirty spray bottle, or by watering can?
The tub says to use every 3 weeks. Correct? Or better to use more often?
Do I feed the tomatoes as normal?
Do I need to try and keep leaves dry? (out of the rain / water low down into the pots to avoid watering the leaves?)
Anything else I should do? I have already removed most of the leaves from each plant and definitely everything low down ....

It's not something I'm happy using but I always thought that it was preventative rather than a cure so if you've already got blight then it's too late to use but other people might know better.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

apparently BM can slow down the blight so we still get a crop .... it would be nice to get one ripe tomato from our 60 plants ....

and blight has hit a couple of potatoes now too ....

squirty spray bottle, re-do every few weeks, try and keep them dry, the reason you re-do is that it gets washed off in rain [or at leats mine did 3 years ago...or was it last year? dunno....]

        feed as normal.
throw away any you dont use at once, dont keep it hanging round, and watch your mixing quantities, its a bit of a bugger to get right.

yup. but not too much. maybe once every 3 weeks or unless it has completely washed off. It's not good for your soil to add so much stuff to it, so keep it to a minimum.
