  • Time to move plants to cold greenhouse??

I have grown from seed parsnips, leeks, beetroot, swiss chard, spinach and salsify. The plants are in a warm conservatory and all but the salsify are about 1-2" tall. Would they be ok to transfer to my cold greenhouse now as I don't want to let them get leggy or suffer with damping off. If so how long would you give them to acclimatise to the new conditions?

Parsnips and salsify really should be sown direct, and all of the above will germinate in a cold greenhouse - no need for any of them to be indoors in the first place.

They will need to be hardened off first by putting outside for the day and brought back in during the night, for a week.

Agree with Zazen999 although I start a lot off inside then transfer to greenhouse but careful you don't shock them. Parsnips direct for me too. Never grown salsify so can't comment.

I planted my kohlrabi plants out in the garden today after growing them in a greenhouse to the first true leaf stage. Covered them with a fleece and hope all will be fine!
