  • the time is coming

well i have been looking at my pumpkins , and one looks like it is fully orange now, so i am thinking that it is time to bring it home....... the powdery mildew has taken over the leaves now, and i have noticed it is starting to go down the storks as well now, i really dont want it affecting the pumpkins so i will have to have them in the house for a couple of months.............

I didn't think that it affected the fruits?

I always leave mine as long as possible until it is clear the stem is withering away and not providing any more goodness - and the sun has ripened the fruit as much as it can.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Usually leave mine on the vine until first frost is due. However if you have a good colour then cut it off taking a good bit of stalk with it and leave it in a greenhouse for a final sun ripening.

lifted my first today, and as I did so a huge blob of alien looking viscid slime plopped onto my boot.
have now propped up the remaining 4 onto straw.
