  • Is there anything to plant now?

I've got holes appearing in the veg beds as stuff is being pulled up and eaten. Is there anything that can be put in now - maybe not to be eaten for quite a while?

Turnips! Why didn't I think of those Thelma? Thank you I've heard a phrase "If all else fails - grow turnips!" So, I think I will - not that all else has failed! Any suggestions on a variety you've tried?

Thank you Darcy, that's really kind. Is there anything you want to swap for them? I've just got some Dill off the front of a magazine if you'd like some?

Don't forget that you can eat turnip leaves too. I sow them thickly, just for the leaves

I'm growing Milan Purpletop (or something like that) and I found out by accident that they were edible!!
There was a thread on here about how difficult it was to obtain turnip leaves to feed lizards so I set out to see if they were easy to grow (you know me!!). Scattered seeds thickly in an old drawer, they came up very quickly, then I decided that if lizards could eat them, so could I. They're not hairy or bristly (maybe just this sort?) and they're great in salad and stirfry Give it a go - or at least eat the thinnings
