  • Tenderstem Broccoli seeds

    Hi,

I'm something of a new-comer to growing my own veg havingonly ever grown potatoes and courgettes before I would now like to have a go at another favourite veg of mine... tenderstem broccoli.

I'm having difficultly finding seeds for tenderstem - can anybody point me in the right direction?

          We bought ours from T&M.

They were delicious and we had plenty, even though we shared them with the cabbage whites.

              Welcome to the vine Alex.

I'll look for my old gardening diaries and check the dates.

We sowed 36 at the end of February, pricked them out into modules on 7th April, planted out 20 of them on 7th July and the other 16 on 4th August (we were chronically short of space)... and that's where my record-keeping went to pot

I know we were definitely harvesting them by the autumn, which surprised me because I was expecting to have to wait till the following spring.

The summer PSB was starting to tail off at the beginning of August and I remember harvesting both together for a while.

Sorry, none of us can remember any more than that.

They might have been quicker if we hadn't left them in the modules for so long, waiting for space.

                  AHA!

I've just found a note that says we harvested 1kg of summer PSB and 1.12kg of Tendergreen on 27th September.

I assume we were getting some Tendergreen before that, since we were harvesting every couple of days and 1.12kg sounds rather a lot to have been a first cut.

The summer PSB was good too. That lasted us all summer, then we had a glut for a while when they were both producing and finally the tenderstem took over completely.
