    Tayberries

    How do you all do? New member seeking help please. I wonder if there is someone out there who has suffered fruit burglary? My Tayberries, once ripe are being taken and I have no idea whether it is birds, beasts, mice or snakes which are responsible. I am seeking advice on possible perpetrators and how to deal with them. Thank you.

    My plant is not in a fruit cage.

    Birds I would think. You need to net them.

      Defo birds.

      Playing early bird catches the blueberry with a the five pot grown Blueberry bushes on the plot tht I keep reminding myself to cage but never get round to !

        Blackbirds LOVE soft fruit, and if they find an accessible bush will just return to it again & again until it's empty.

        You need nets, but make sure it's all taut & tight not loose & flappy, or else you'll find little dead birds tangled up in it

          I've lost nearly all my soft fruit this year to blackbirds - it too big an area to net.
          However, I'm sure its the blackbirds who are keeping the caterpillars off my brassicas!!
          Thinks..........which do I prefer - fruit or cabbage
