Hi, having covered my tatties over on the night when frost was forecast, it wasn't frosty. So last night I left them uncovered and - yup, frost. The leaves have blackened and gone soggy on some of them - will they recover, or are they gonnas? Can I do anything to help them on their way?

We had frost last night too! My spuds were caught twice last year- about 2 weeks apart. Both times about 4" of top growth were blackened right down to soil level. Yup- they recovered
....just leave them be

. It's one of the few veg that actually interests my OH, and it's what's motivating him to do all that digging and slogging for me at the moment! So it'd be dire if they all keeled over! At least until he's finished all the heavy work lol .

Yes mine did this a few months ago, got frosted and thought all but 1 stem looked a gonna, but now at the back of the pic:
I did bury most of the dark dead looking bits with soil, not sure if that helped, but just made it look better to me :P, but they were olny 3-4" above soil at that time.Last edited by DGoulston; 14-05-2012, 02:43 PM.Chilli Grower
