I generally start mine off early-mid April - sown in loo roll tubes and left in the greenhouse. The plan then is that they're ready to plant out in the raised beds by the start of June.
    come visit a garden
    or read about mine www.suburbanvegplot.blogspot.com/

Mine take 3 weeks from sowing to planting out. So 3 weeks before last frost / plant out date would be my suggestion.

I'm gonna copy you and sow some sweetcorn now, in propagator.

Can always sow more later if the frost gets them.

btw, pies, do you mean you put kernals in the ground or you started them indoors?
