I grew Earlibird last year it it was nice.... holds its flavour in the fruidge well too.... trying Swift this year cos the crop from earlibird basically came in a rush at the end of the season.... though that might ahve been last years weather.....

I like Swift, but had germination problems last year.

My neighbour & Me grew "Ovation" last year on here allotment and they grew really well, there was a good amount of 7"-8" cobs per plant, nice and sweet but not sickly. And there in T&M.

Added up my order from T&M, take off �5 voucher, cost �4.36

I've only got sugarsnap peas, parsnips and sweetcorn in there!

Moreveg do the same for �2.70 delivered.
Suits me with the amount of seeds I would get as well.

Blimey, seeds came today from Moreveg.

Polite, small amounts of seeds, if that suits you. Cheap, I'd recommend them.

I can recommend 'Incredible' - something of a favourite with me and usually 2 cobs per plant if not 3.

Are these ok being transplanted? Did I read something about putting them in loo rolls or did I make that up?

They are fine transplanted young, possibly with protection to reduce shock- I had some old ones given to me by a lottie mate - they were root bound in the tray and did really badly, but my home sown ones were great!

I hate loo rolls...mouldy horrid things. I sow in 3" pots (will be chitting them first this year to save on failures) and plant out with bulb planter....very little root disturbance....they do hate it Chris.

My favourite is Sundance.

I have bought F1 sweetie pie from dobbies not sure when to start them? I was going to wait until april will this be ok? I will also be using a bulb planter as I did with my spuds it is a lot easier.

I've grown these for the last three years with some success. Initially I grew them because the seeds were 19p a packet from Netto's and considering they are an F1 Hybrid this was and is (if you'll excuse the pun) Incredible good value.

Now, I would seek them out............ even if they were 20p a packet!
