  • Sweetcorn is it to soon?

Sweetcorn would you risk it yet??

Have grown, ok have got me dad to grow some sweetcorn (i have no room left in my greenhouse) and its getting to the stage where it needs to be potted on moved out. Was hoping to get it into the lottie this weekend. Its been sat in an fairy cold polytunnel so should be alright but then theres always the frost if i put a fleece over it will this be enough? I'm already thinking keep half as back up. I could coldframe maybes a quater and get that going then the rest in a couple of weeks.

Also has anyone try the three sisters approach and would it work with courgette plants as there all the same family (squashes etc)

I've not seen any frost but friends who have to get up early for work and the like keep telling me there still defrosting there cars at 5am.
    Poor poor them :O)

I'm not putting mine out just yet, but I sowed late. Tried 3 sisters last year with beans, sweetcorn and courgettes - not really successful. The beans and courgettes did well, but the corn didn't.

I put some in last weekend and a couple of nights ago Jack Frost sent them off to the great vegetable patch in the sky. Ah well.

might hold back for another week then. I'll take them from days and put them out and in the greenhouse. Will move the sprouting bro to allotment to free up some space and taking some plants to a friends. Just hope shes not got the same plan as mine and is going to fill my boot with bit and pieces.

mine has been out for 3/4 weeks now? Not covered them up or anything - they're covered in netting - to keep the cats off, which is probably a meter and ahalf above the bed... Growing fine (bar the one I broke accidently).

I'm sowing my second lot this weekend.
