    hello all

im very new to growing my own veg and have a question on strawberry i have 6 plants in my plastic greenhouse all look healthy and its shooting from the middle i'm just wondering what i do with them next do i plant them out or leave them in??? any advice would be handy

Not sure what you mean by shooting from the middle. Strawberries produce fruit on the stalks where the flowerheads were and these grow from the middle of the plant. They also produce stolons(runners) which is another way the plants reproduce .

As to what you do now, depends on whether you want an early crop in which case keep them inside, otherwise, plant outside. If keeping inside, you may need to repot into bigger pots.

        Hiya, Newtoallthis,
Strawberries are tough little beasts who will be perfectly happy outside. Your main concern will be protecting your fruit from slugs, snails, blackbirds, squirrels, marauding kids from next door, Anglo Saxons, Native Americans, Woolly Mammoths....You get the picture? EVERYONE and everything (including my dog) love a strawberry..

Yup! - then just as they are getting to juicy perfection, along comes a Woolly Mammoth.....I suggest you net them if the are outside, though that wouldn't necessarily stop a really determined Woolly Mammoth....

And for the next little while watch out for frost if you have flowers showing , it can kill them. Maybe keep them where they are for the moment.
