Plant them out now so they have time to establish themselves before spring.

Where do you garden, Dirtyknees? Assuming you're not frozen in yet I would plant out the strawberries now. Keep an eye on them, but they should establish OK at this time of year and you may even get a small crop off them next year.

You could plant them out now but if they are happy in their pots, you could wait til Spring has sprung - this is what I am doing and I have over 500 in pots at the moment, with several hundred more in water forming roots - these will also be put into pots before planting out in Spring. You will still get a decent crop.

Music to my ears. I've got a few in pots under cover and far too much else to do apart from planting them out

Plus, we've already had our first hard frost the night before last and judging by how cold my feet are I reckon we're in for another one tonight...

If you've got that many, why not do half and half? A freecycler told me that now is the best time to transplant them, but if people think they'll be also happy until spring, heck, do both!
