As it's that time of year, I thought this may be useful to some:

Hi BM, So, am I able to store my harvested carrots in the garage?

I have already frozen half of them, the other half are still in the ground, but it would be great if I could just pull them up and leave them in the garage until xmas time??????

I have heard of folk storing Carrots in boxes of sand although I've not tried it myself:

I leave mine in the ground and just pull enough every weekend for the following week which I just store in the kitchen.

Talking of carrots, you should have seen the size of one I pulled today. Autumn king and it fed six of us, I kid you not

I put mine in a clamp so if the ground is frozen I can still get to them. Works really well.

My soil is a bit on the silty side so they're usually OK to chisel out when the ground is frozen
