  • State of play - June

I thought it would be interesting to see where we're at with our fruit and veg crops now that June's here. Here's my list:

Harvesting: early potato, kohl rabi, carrots, radish, rocket, baby courgette. rhubarb, strawberries

Setting or swelling: tomato (2 trusses), broad bean, beetroot, onion, garlic, shallots

    Flowering: Runner beans

Everything else (incl. follow-on sowings of carrot and beetroot) is at the young plant stage

Ooh Eck, I must have started later this year, I've only harvested coriander, everything else is still at the small plant stage.

I'm sowing it every fortnight Bren for daughter and SIL they use such a lot. My chillies are really, really small this year too and I'm not sure why. The bloomin' aubergines are still just chugging along. Sounds like you're doing really well Lotsaveg.

We've had 3Kg of straws, with more coming (!), rhubarb and salad.

Pretty much everything else isn't doing much, my toms are just opening their flowers.

                            Good thread!

Harvesting: a few early potatoes from the greenhouse, sugarsnaps (greenhouse), mangetout, various salad leaves, a few strawberries (greenhouse), cucumbers (greenhouse). A bit of chard remaining after cutting all the bolting tops off (from last year).

Setting or swelling: Broad beans, a few chillis (greenhouse), gooseberries (though I saw the second lot of sawfly last weekend unfortunately), strawberries (outside), potatoes, turnips, a few raspberries (spare one in pot). Apples on 2 of the 3 trees (though they will have to come off if they do't drop - first year, so I'm only allowed to keep one on!).

Flowering: Tomatoes (greenhouse), rest of the chillies (greenhouse). one sweet pea (one flower!), courgettes / squash, second variety of broad bean

Very small plants: coriander & parsley just coming up in modules; some very sad looking broccoli & sprouts to go out; chard to go out

harvesting loads of parsley, some strawberries and lettuce

beans looking good, but I'm not convincedteh "runner beans" I bought from Dobbies are climbers at all..

potatoes sprining up and I've earthed them up, tomatoes struggling a bit.

setting and swelling: apples, pears and plums..looks like a good year
