Default Squashes trouble.

Hello.
In my squashes I can find a realy strange thing - the "male" flowers can be found everywhere in my plants, but when I am looking for "female" ones I see a tiny flower, still close, and the squash is behind it. But my problem is that the connection between the squash to the plant looks dry (brown). Is it supposed to be like that? (I have to mention that some of the flowers looks dry, too).
What am I doing wrong?

Nitzan.

Shalom Nitzan,

You didn't mentioned if it is a winter type or a summer type and how long have you got it. The first couple of flowers are usually male and later as the plant grow and put up more strength, it will produce both flowers.
The dry sign of the flowers sounds like sun burnt (?). Is the soil moist ?
I know the temp' in Israel can be easily reaching to 40C, if it is the case, it will help to provide some net to shade the plant and thick mulch to conserve the moisture of the soil. Hope this help .
