I got carried away yesterday and sowed 6 of these chappies, but I have no (planned) space left. Has anyone tried this is a pot/container type thingy?

No idea, but I sowed 3 courgettes, 3 cukes and a melon last week.
i just couldn't help it.

Oooooh...I got special delivery of lots(far too many)of squash this morning!!(only a little excited!

Anyway to the point,although not tried it yet I've done lots of looking into growing them up supports this year,& crown Prince not being of the huge variety I should imagine would work well.(probably a bit too heavy for canes,but a fence should be O.K)
Some of the pics I've seen have them growing trained up a fence & then string nets to support the fruit.the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

I grew Crown Prince one year. I had 2 plants, one didn't do much, the other went the length of the fence one way, 10ft, then I trained it back the other way, then it started on its return journey again. I did try pinching out the growing tip, then got millions of side shoots. It was determined to take over the world (or garden
) I got 3 squash from it, but decided I just didn't have space to grow it again 
.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.

I start some of these of each year for a lady ploter who has not got a green house.
She grows them for some West Indian friend's and they love e'm they do spread a bit and the pumkins are about 10 inche's across when ripe a nice bluey grey colour....jacob

They do go quite well. I grow them every year and average 3-4 squash of each plant. No no no for pots unless you can ensure they do not dry out, they just love water.Comment
