  • Squash Advice

    Hi Folks,

Due to the limited space I have I'm thinking of growing some sort of mini squash next year (grapefruit size or a bit smaller).

Can anyone offer and guidence, experience on what to choose, yield, etc?

    As always I thank you
    Cheers

Acorn, Harlequin and Golden nugget squash grow off a compact (non-trailing) bush. I grew a variety called Table King Acorn that were delicious when halved and roasted in the oven. Tasted like sweet potato.

Yep, you need a bush variety as opposed to the usual trailing ( aka rampant ) varieties.
The size of the fruit won't make any difference
Some good suggestions above, one I've grown is Table Gold which produced an average of 7 fruits per plant the same size as a courgette

The other possibility to cosider is to make some kind of framework to train a trailing squash up
