  • Spuds in manure

Hello, not sure if this has been done, searched but didn't find anything. I'm doing a fresh bed, ten inch wide concrete block will be the depth, be about 10ft by 3ft. I have a few ton of 18months old horse manure delivered which looks pretty good, no smell of horsey, feels and looks soily.
What i'm thinking of doing is spuds on top of the grass then cover with this horse manure, will it work? would the manure affect the spuds or would it do them good ?.

Also, when the spuds are out,(if it's okay to do it) what would be favourite to put in place ? thanks.....

I'm thinking the spuds will be as happy as a pig in ermmmm
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Sorry to buck the trend, but I grew spuds in manure and there was far too much foliage, and the tubers had more scab and slug damage than the ones grown in the ground.

I'm sure I read somewhere that 25% Manure to 75% Compost or Soil is about right, anymore is too rich

I've grown in 100% manure & have been fine.
