  • sprouting peas and beans....

I can't find if this question has been asked before ( sort of have a feeling it has...)- but ...
I thought I'd try bean sprouts ( mung beans) and sprouting black eyed beans- never tried them before.
So - to all you experts I have a question....

Can I plant some of these out to collect the seed for next autumn/winter???
My gut feeling is yes- why not. If so I presume it planting out in March/April????

I've never had success with growing mung beans or black eyed peas/beans, but you could always try.

I did get a good crop of chick peas last year, which are good for sprouting

OK- was worth thinking about- I'll probably sow a few then!..maybe the slightly warmer weather here might make it more successful? ( but then again- it's drier here!!)

if your doing beansprouts do them in a warm cupboard otherwise they just start to produce leaves, they will only grow about half the length of commercial beansprouts but are much tastier
