  • Spring Onion with toms !

I sowed some spring onion seeds a week or three back in new compost , the seeds were Mr Fothergills.

Tom seeds are so different from onion seeds that I think you would have noticed when you sowed em. My bet is that the tom seeds were in the compost.

Very hard to kill a tomato seed. I used to fish near Stoke Bardolph a sewage farm not far from Nottingham, the banks of the outlet were covered in tom plants.

So that's through the human body, down the sewers, passed all the pumps etc, through the sewage treatment plant and bingo still good to germinate.

Mine sprouted from compost bags from the garden center and not the seed packet as earlier stated , wonder where they came from or what variety they are.
