Ok, so I have had enviromesh covering my kales for a few weeks now so how on earth have they got small green caterpillars on them eating the leaves ?

The butterflies are really clever at just getting their egglaying equipment through the mesh - they've done it to me, too.
Small green caterpillars will be the small cabbage white I think which can squeeze through the tiniest gap, and because they lay single eggs rather than a clutch they are easily missed. I've noticed all my turnips which were waiting to go out have been eaten by them. Grrrr.Le Sarramea https://jgsgardening.blogspot.com/ -
