  • Show us your south facing window!

I went overboard and started some seeds in January.

The big one is a cucumber plant, thats now 2 feet high and already has a baby cucumber on it.

I plan to monitor its progress compared with seeds started in March, and see if it was really worthwhile having all of this on the windowsill for so long!

Have you got a bigger pot for the cucumber, they're quite difficult potting on into their final pot if they're too tall, plus you can get a strong bamboo cane in there,it will grow fast. If they're a F1 female only cucumber they can stay indoors with no pollination needed,I cut mine at about 6 foot for the carman variety,so all the leaves are in the sun any taller & they're on the ceiling but I did train one around so it was like an upside down L shape using a piece of bamboo on top of my kitchen cupboards,it wasn't worth the craziness of it though,6 foot is fine. Great looking plants, they're nice to look at everyday even if it is early

Yes, the 2 foot cucumber is now in his final pot, Still being dragged to and from the greenhouse on a daily basis at the moment!

The routes were completely round the sides of the pot and at the bottom so it certainly needed it!

This is my west facing windowsill (the south facing one isn't very exciting):

One of the 2 tomatoes on last year's plant is turning red

You can't really see from that photo, but the new plants (sown in January) have flowers and small fruits forming:

These plants are staying where they are, and the old one will be cut down once its fruits have ripened, to make way for more.

        Variety is Shirley.
