  • Should I take the flower buds off my potatoes?

As a newbie spud grower I need some advice from fellow growers please.

I planted some Vales Emerald tubers on the 25th May, I know that is late but I had forgotten that I had them!

They are the same as these below.

I have the start of flower buds on them at the minute, should I remove these or let them grow and blossom?

I am sure I read to take them off so that the nutrients would be directed to the growing spuds and not flowers.

I'm not an expert in growing spuds but I think you leave the flowers, when they have finished the stems will die down, then I believe is the time to lift them. Don't remove your flower buds just yet until you get some confirmation.

Leave the flowers, they won't stop your spuds growing.
