  • Seeds on a budget

For those feeling the effects of the recession, Nicky's Nurseries at Broadstairs in Kent are worth taking a look at and, other than being a satisfied customer, I have no axe to grind. For those on a budget and/or who get seriously pi**ed off with paying for 1000 seeds in a packet when you only need 10, they have a range of interesting varieties in smaller packets from 50p. For the average allotment/kitchen garden/window sill grower they are certainly worth taking a look at.

Perhaps I should have used the word 'quality' as well as 'interesting'.............

They ARE quaility...and you get loads. Where else can you get a packet of F1 Incredible sweetcorn for that price?
        Don't knock em til you've tried them............and then you'll see I'm right!

I'm still eating the Autumn King carrots I grew from Netto's seed and the other allotment holders round about are soooooooo jealous!

PS Another 50p a packet merchant is moreveg.co.uk...........I can recommend these as well!

If you are looking for your basics Netto seeds are fantastic value and excellent quality, bought them last year and will buy them again this year.

Lidl are very good too, a bit more expensive but still only 29p a pack.

Who is Netto's - is it an online company? Actually I'm sort of guessing that it is not. I normally go to Simply Seed.

Netto is a budget supermarket (same goes for Aldi and Lidl - pronounced leedul) that often sells plants, seed, tools and the likes.

I googled to find my nearest store - only 170 miles away so I'll make do with Aldi and lidl - and have a look at Nicky's Flowers and Seeds...

I've ordered from varies places online doing 50p-£1 per packet and not had a problem with the quality of any. That coupled with the very generous seed swappers means you can have a go at all sorts without having a big budget

Only 170? I'm surprised you don't do your weekly shop in there!

Netto seeds are specially produced from Mr Fothergill's, so I would say they are Quality seeds, and at 19p a packet, there's lots left to put in the seed swap .
