  • Seed Tin

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a decent seed tin. All my seed packets are currently thrown into an old biscuit tin. I'm looking for something with compartments in it, so I can separate them out.

I picked up a large plastic 'baby box' from a car boot for a couple of quid. Loads of space in it and the cantilever tray holds labels. pens dibbers etc.

PS Mine doesn't have pictures on it

PPS At the moment there is so much in there, I can hardly close the lid
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

I have so many seeds that I have divided them into types: greens, roots, salads, herbs etc. Each type is stored in the clear plastic Fridge-door shaped yoghourt pots (apart from the ones in biscuit tins, plastic containers, and anything else I can lay my hands on).
Remember, one seed tin is never enough!

If you are referring to mine SS, they are packets of seeds.

i use berrocca tubes... they've a desicant in so should keep them dry - i think I'm kidding myself that this is any advantage though based on my lack of success with squash at the mo!

I use shoe-box-shaped boxes from Ikea. I'd have no chance of keeping something as good as Taff's, the Golden Girls claim all my nice boxes!

The plastic tubs that washing tabs come in for me! They are just the right size to stack a standard seed packet in so it's upright, and the clear plastic ends mean you don't need to label the tub as you can see the picture on the front of the first seed packet. They also stack neatly on top of each other I have one each for roots, salad leaves, brassicas etc. Trouble is, I'm going to have to start sub dividing the categories soon and Mr Teez and I squabble over the tubs as he likes to use them for storing screws and things in in the garage!....

I have ziplock plastic bags inside a biscuit tin.

I'd be reluctant to spend money on anything to just store seeds in when there are so many other things I want.
