    Seed potatoes not arrived yet!

    I'm worried that my seed potatoes have not arrived yet, they are first and second earlies. Just concerned that I may not have long enough to chit them before planting. Has anyone else experienced any delays?
    P.S. They were ordered in December

      Don't know who you ordered them from, but I made a mid-Jan order with T&M which arrived 1st week Feb - they're chitting away nicley!

      Actually - just seen credit card debit on 29th Dec - but still here already.

        Don't panic, there's plenty of time Really, potatoes will grow perfectly well without chitting them at all, as several studies have shown.
        If you're specially worried though, you could email your supplier and ask if there's any hold ups anywhere?

          Ordered mine in December, spuds, shallots & onions, and they arrived today YAY.
          They were also from T&M,s

            Ordered mine from Marshalls, never used them before. Last year I ordered from Unwins and they were late too! Perhaps I'm not ordering early enough.

              I've had them from T&M and from JBAs (Tattieman), both ordered late, both arrived already. In fact, I think it might have been January when I ordered, if not, it was late December...
              I've never had spuds from Marshalls, but I got my onion sets from them last year, and I seem to remember that they have a delivery schedule, so that you don't get your stuff ages before you need it?

                  i ordered mine from marshalls just after xmas. i got mine last week, i too was getting worried as i am new to potato growing this year, so thought that i wouldnt get chance to chit them. just hold in there, they said at marshalls that they've got a bit of a back log of orders, so shouldnt be too much longer.

                      SR: call them up, in case they were sent and by the time you do call, they could be all out and you might miss the boat.

                        If nothing arrives in the next few days will contact them. I know their website says they will arrive in time for chitting but........
                        Anyway thanks for the replies and reassurance, just started panicking a bit If worse comes to worse they will have to go in the ground unchitted or partially chitted!

                            If they are maincrop I wouldn't worry about chitting. I like to chit my earlies and second earlies (that's all I grow) so maybe they are sending them out in order of planting?

                              Just tried to ring on the off chance but they must have just closed the phone lines (close at 5p.m.) More prompt at finishing work than I usually am
