We grew Maris Piper last season.
First time potato growers in bulk for us.
We suffered badly with scab, which with what i've read can be a combination of things.
Dry weather conditions (well that's a given for last year).
Poor soil conditions, (the plot was over grown when we got it).
Maris Piper has poor resistance to scab.

This year, I'll be trying King Edwards, which has a higher resistance to scab.

Incidentally I just spotted that the B&Q offer of 2 bags for £5 was posted 11 years ago.

                    :-)

Its always worth checking the dates of posts, especially when they are special offers.

It is actually cheaper this year.
Last year had the two for five pound offer.
This year i looked for the offer stickers, none to be seen.so figured hey, £4 for 2kg of spuds?, gotta be worth it ey ( worked out as 30 plus pots a kilo) so lets do it.
At the till however, prices are dropped to two pounds a kilo, im guessing thats if you buy two its half price, will be back there tomorrow so will let you know.

I went to B & Q today for my seed potatoes.
                          I paid €5 per 2kg bag.
                          Bought Pentland Javlin and Charlotte.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

No offence to any British peeps, but, all English stores charge higher prices here.
If you challenge it you are always told, it's the difference between the sterling and the euro.
