| Just taken delivery of some garlic from a company in Nairn, Scotland It's called 'The really garlicky company' at www.reallygarlicky.co.uk Looks pretty good and only waited 2 days. Thought if it will do well in Scotland than it's probably going to do better than an English or French variety. Bought some in Waitrose to plant out and then had second thoughts as it may need to be treated for a higher success rate- so ordered some online to try out. Maybe those of you up there might be able to grow it too? |

| Re the IOW one. I agree that £19.50 is a lot, however we got some from him at 5 head for £6 although we ended up with one lot of 6 heads for £6 and 6 cloves of elephant garlic for £6. Now to plant the stuff. We are rather partial to garlic as can be judged by recipes posted.

| It has Mrs D, its probably about 3" but I put mine in a couple of weeks before yours. I also put the little cloves you get in the middle in a pot on the kitchen window sill and they are about 12" high, not sure how they will do but nothing ventured... This first year is about growing things I want to grow and if they work fine, if they don't plan b comes into play. Only problem is I haven't got a plan b

Mr D's dyslexia stopped him from doing well at school, he was bullied (by teachers as well as kids) so didnt finish his education, but is one of the most intelligent people I know! His people skills, spatial awareness and problem solving are amazing! I hope your 7 yr old gets the support he deserves and goes on to do well and be happy, its not an easy thing to cope with as Mr D knows!

| I've planted my usual Solent Wight as well as 2 1/2 bulbs of the porcelain garlic from the really garlicky company - the latter I'm trying for the first time and the cloves were absolutely massive, no more than 5 or 6 to a bulb! The smell of them was really nice too, like homemade pesto almost! Look forward to sampling the results next year. |
