  • School gardening projects query

    I know some of you help out or organise the school projects for growing your own. I had a thought today about these. I know a lot of stuff can be harvested before and after the long 6 weeks holiday, but this is the peak time for gardeners to reap the rewards of their hard work.

    What happens to the school stuff during this time? Do you have volunteers going in each week or what?

    No.
    I only grow things that can be cropped before summer hols. August cropping stuff is on my allotment, and I'll take that in for them to see in Sept.

    Ideally people would take the plants home during summer hols to tend them, but realistically that ain't gonna happen.

      Varies;

      My residential ones, someone will be watering and harvesting and giving the produce to the cooks...

      My non-res ones - I have the maintainance guy to water, and I am popping in to gather the harvest a couple of times and to deliver it to a res school.

      One other put tender stuff like Toms into pots so that they could be taken home over the hols....at their request [so I have trained them properly it would seem ]
