I had samphire for the first time last night, lightly boiled & served with salmon & home grown new potatoes & it was lovely. I only bought it because we were in a Booths supermarket & it was reduced to 50p for a tray & looked interesting. I'm now wondering is it possible to grow it in a veg. garden, maybe in a container, & does anyone know if you can buy seeds or young plants anywhere? Also have any of you tried to grow it, I imagine it needs a sunny spot & possibly watering with a salty solution?

I remember going samphire picking with my dad when I was youger as there was/is tons of the stuff down by the wash. e forever had jars everywhere of pickled samphirehttp://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jamiesjourney

Found an interesting article about samphire being grown in Saudi as a crop because it doesnt mind being watered with seawater!Comment
