  • Round courgette query

I have finally got some courgettes forming, one plant appears to have 'normal' fruits, the other has round yellow ones.

I know what size to harvest the regular green ones, but when is ideal for the round ones please? One is about tennis ball size and I wondered what is the optimum size before they start to deteriorate.

About now Shirl, or the middle comes away from itself and you get a hollowish inside, which then starts to fill with seeds.

You're a bit late with the courgettes? What happened, or shouldn't I ask?

      Quite simply they didn't grow!!

My pumpkins are the same, lovely big plants but no fruits - they decided to grow where they are so I didn't start them at the wrong time but I think just the weather has been so odd here. No worries, I picked the first beans on Sunday

I picked one this evening, about a golf ball size I would say. The previous one I picked was a similar size and was very nice.

I picked my first runner bean on Thursday too!!
