  • Root fly maggots.. can i Save anything?

hiya i am being slowly attacked by root fly maggots, i seem to be losing all cabbages, brolccoli, cauli and even turnips... is there anything i can do to save the remaining?

alternativey, i have purchased some fresh plants from garden center, and some collars this time round, but how soon can i plant these in the same area?

    any advice greatly appreciated!

    Enviromesh is your best bet!

You can sometimes revive attacked plants by earthing up the stem and hoping new roots will form in the earthed up section.

Not a great fan of collars myself because other nasties can hide underneath them during the day to come out and wreak havoc through the night!

They seem to be enjoing the weather this year. Never really had a problem in the past. i've only ever lost 1 or 2 plant in total in the past. this year I've lost over 1/2 my Primo :-( Everybody on our allotment and 4 allotments within 5 miles are having the same problem.

BUT a lottie neighbour gave me some spary which seems to have doen the job and even a few of the plant that looked lost have started to come back. Not sure what the spray is but it seems to have done the trick I'll try to find out for you.
