Mine never got that tall if I remember rightly - but they did form the curds for a day or two and then lost it a bit and went brown.

Oh. I'm trying them for the first time this year. I had no success with Brassicas at all last year. Fingers crossed!

thankyou for the repies so far, they will get this 1 last chance to redeme themselves,
i still have the maystar caulies from last year in with the sprouting, they supposed to be a spring 1,and they only making leaves, that is those that have not rotted away, unless it was the extra freeze they got,so not bothering with them again,to much room for the time they in,and i will need the space in a bit,
          crossed with you G4

I can't really remember how tall ours were last year I think they were about 2'-2'6" ish (just a tad taller than an upturned barrow if that helps)

Ours were slow to form curds and we almost gave up on them but once they started forming there was no stopping them.

There's a piccy of our last one in the showcase (last but 1 post).

I'm told the trick is to make sure they are planted in firm ground and even to stake them on really exposed sites to stop wind rock which will stop them forming curds. Worked for us (last year was our first year growing)

I'm giving these a go as well this year- they look so pretty! We'll have to share and compare the results.
