Just harvested some of my Brad's black hearts and went to save the seeds from them. They barely had any seeds inside and the ones I did find were about 1/2 the size of the "standard" tomato seeds and bright green! Is this standard for this variety or have some of these fruits got some kind of defect?

Are you sure they were fully ripe Leeds Lad. Sometimes its hard to tell with a black tomato?

Yeah, they were fully coloured with the usual squishy-ness. brads black isn't a true black, more like a deep red with a black shoulder and black middle.Originally posted by bramble View Post
Not complaining though, they are a great tomato to grow, nice size and flavour, 95% flesh with next to none of the usual gooey stuff. Would just like to regrow them next year! XD

I've had several varieties give seedless fruits, pretty sure it is due to poor pollination resulting from the cold spells we have had this year. Later fruit should be with seeds

The seeds are usually quite big, and not tiny at all. Sounds like it wasn't fully ripe. In your photo they look reddish, they are really a much darker colour when they're ripe. It could be my monitor though...Comment

AH right. Could have sworn it was, it seemed an even colour, was squishy and didn't change from the colour it was at all, so it got picked and eaten =p
