  • repotting sweetcorn? advice please

    Hi everyone,
im another newbie on here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area .
recently a purchased a 10cm pot with sweetcorn in,im not sure which ones they are as it doesnt say ,i shall have to pop back to nursery to find out , i think its time to re pot these into their final home which will be containers for me they are now approx 23cm tall ,what i need to know is when i re pot these how far should i plant these into the soil ? i.e up to first leaves??
thank you for any help advice with this ,im hoping to do this today and then i shall keep them indoors until the weather gets abit warmer ,
or at least until hubby has finished putting new greenhouse together hehe
If i have a thousand ideas and only one turns out good,i am satisfied.- Alfred Nobel

Hello Dru & welcome to the vine. I have always planted mine fairly deep to help stabilise them for when they grow taller so up to their first leaves should be fine. Corn likes to be grown in blocks rather than rows so depending on the container size you may wish to plant 2x2 or 3x3 on a block.

be a bit wary when planting out, frost will kill sweetcorn or set it back so severely that you wont get a crop
don't be afraid to innovate and try new things

Thank you both for your replies
yes i thought i would have to plant fairly deep as they grow pretty tall i have 2 buckets 5 gall buckets or 13" wide so im going too plant 4 and 3 as i only have 7 plants and see how i go ,im also keeping them indoors till end of may as we could still get frost here ,and greenhouse is still in progress of being put up (or thrown over next doors ) stressful weekend ,next time get a greenhouse that is already set up springs to mind
