  • Red King Edwards

I am wanting some red king edward seed potatoes but I can't seem to find anywhere that sells them. I am only wanting one 2.5kg bag. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Have you looked in Dobbies? They had a large selection last week, 'mix and match' any 5 for a £1.00.

Hello and welcome. I Goggled and found several stockists but P&P seemed expensive. Here's one in Herefordshire Maincrop seed potatoes are the perfect spud for baking 7 chipping.
Without knowing where you live its difficult to help with local stockists. Could you add your location to your profile please.

I am in Sheffield. I have phoned the places I've found on Google and none of them have the red ones. I think I am just going to have to choose a different variety.

Not sure if this helps but Transition Chesterfield are running another potato day in Loundsley Green you could contact them and see what varieties they have :-

What is it you particularly like about the red King Edwards? Someone might be able to suggest an alternative. Two reds I like are Desiree and Red Duke of York.

King Edwards are a maincrop as are Desiree but the DOY is an early variety

I realise they are not equivalents, just the first two I can think of. I have left red Duke of York to get quite big and lift as an early main crop. I've never grown King Edwards, red or otherwise. Was just wondering why these.

My Grandfather used to grow them so really its for sentimental reasons.

Where they the red ones in poundland? I will have a look in my local store. Thanks

In my humble opinion red king edwards make the BEST roast potatoes.... !
