  • Rats??

Yesterday, I emptied a few pots that had been kicking around the garden all winter.

This 8 inch one had had a chilli in it last year and had probably been on its side all winter.

I didn't notice the holes until after I'd finished emptying so not sure what the compost was like.

Rats??? It is not a hole from the plastic breaking as there are well defined scratches on it!!

The proof of the growing is in the eating.
    Leave Rotten Fruit.
    Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potasium - potash.
    Autant de têtes, autant d'avis!!!!!
Il n'est si méchant pot qui ne trouve son couvercle.

What would have been inside to eat though?...if it were a nest there wouldn't have been much compost left just a pile alongside.

    Maybe bionic vine weevils.

It looks like the plastic has got brittle and is breaking down, to the right of the boot shaped hole there is a tiny heart shaped hole that is coming out like it has been pushed from the inside out IMO def nothing like any rat damage I have seen.

If you mean what I think you mean when you say well defined scratches - that looks like something from rocking/sliding on the ground or against something else.
