Default Raised Beds - Leafs etc

Hi,

I've recently set-up 4 raised beds for next spring and wondered If I could put a layer of leafs followed by a layer of new compost? Would the leafs rot in time?

Cheers...........Danny

Don't see why it matters Danny. People suggest a layer of mulch as a top dressing. I am intending to cover my beds with low quality cardboard with compost on top: plant through holes or sculpt the card around the plants, depends on time-scales.

Take your point Phreddy, I'll give it a go, nothing ventured?
