    How deep should they be?

I'm using deckboards over soil. Will one boards depth be enough or should i use 2?

If the bed is 2.4mx1.2m how many rows and what spacing?

    cheers asparagus experts!

You should plant the crowns 6" down and 1 1/2 foot between plants.

Depth depends on how heavy/well drained the soil is. I grow on sloping sand in sunny Sussex hence I have a 100mm retaining board on the downhill side and they were planted 150mm below original soil level....so probably finished about 200mm down...On heavier soil less deep.... maybe soil level and earthed up like spuds. One board should still be enough....earth them up 50mm at a time over summer.

Spacing is approx 350mm between plants and 450mm between rows so you might achieve 3 staggered rows in the bed.(with 150 down the sides) Thus at these spacings You will require 18, or at a push, 21 crowns for the proposed site.

Saw the first couple of spear tips today...not long now yummy!!
