  • Radishes and Beetroot in pots

    Hi!

Wonder if someone can help. I want to grow radishes and beetroots a few at a time in pots on my verandah.

Basically, my questions are: How many to a pot? and waht size of pot?

And, is there anything else I need to know?

    Thanks
    Elizabeth

Just starting, but from what I have read, thin out to radish about 1" apart, and beet 4-6", also depends if growng for the leaves, baby beetroots or slightly bigger. But check the packet for distances - dont need to worry aobut the distance between rows bit

Yep, I agree, I planted radishes an inch apart in about a 6/7" pot and they are just fattening up nicely

So that's Radishes 4 to a 6" pot and beetroot one to a pot. Presume you can just leave the radishes? I don't really want to have to re-pot them...

Which part of NE Scotland are you in, Elsie? I'm in Aberdeen.

I just counted mine I have 14 radishes in a 6" pot (well 13 now cos I got impatient and pulled a little one up to test). Plant in a circle around the edge about an inch in from the rim then a few in the middle. Nope, no need to re pot. Remember with radishes you'll want a few at a time so you might want to sow a pot every other week and have a few on go at a time.

If you want more space you could use storage boxes, I'm growing carrots in those
