  • A quick 'topsoil' question -----

Can you advise, having just filled up my new beds with some 'Fruit and Vegetable' topsoil (in case you weren't aware ) - I know it'll probably 'settle' down a bit - so would you also add some bags of compost to them or anything else???

What's under the topsoil? When I filled mine I grew in it for that year - then topped it up before winter and this spring it hasnt needed topping up again. If you're going down into soil you'll probably be ok as it is!

I agree with Vicki, grow in it this year then when you harvest in Autumn, then is the time to top it up with homemade compost, manure, etc. This will then break down over winter leaving you with a lovely topped up bed.

Once they start to flower/fruit, it may pay to give them a bit of liquid feed/tea.
