  • Quick mass moontrucker trial

    OK ladies and gents.

It is 1 week before the shortest day. So in 7 days is the ideal time to sow your garlic.

In the meantime, I am doing a quick onion sowing trial.

    2 pots. Same compost.

1 pinch/handful of seeds sown today.

1 pinch/handful of seeds sown next Monday.

Just these, we'll look at the comparison in 12 weeks and see the difference between the 2.

If anything, it gives us something to sow and look at whilst we are waiting for spring.

Whatever happened to all the threads about moon gardening? No one seems to mention it these days.
Must admit to being a bit sceptical about it myself...........too much like hard work, too complicated working out when you can sow this or that depending on where you live on the planet and what phase of the moon it is.
Read a book on it once but wasn't convinced!

Zazy, do we have to put the seed trays in a cold frame after we've sewn the seeds? Or will they be okay in a sheltered bit of the garden?

Excellent.....this was inspired by chatting to one of our Seeds of Change Apprentices at work [Claire] who is going to be gardening in the Ryton biodynamic garden next year and so we were chatting about moon gardening, I told her about my garlic trials and - well - an empty office this afternoon, some seeds and I thought - hang on.....next week is the 21st - this sounds just like A TRIAL!!!

Yin & Yang I'm afraid.........for every moon gardener there's got to be a sceptic!
