  • question ? re melons

i have a large poly tunnel and decided to try growing melons aswell my tomatos etc, i have read that you cant grow melon in the same greenhouse as cucumbers, because the melon will cross pollinate with them. i have bought a walk in plastic greenhouse, but as they arent very sturdy i was going to place it inside my poly tunnel, just for the melons, will this work ? or will the melon still cross pollinate with my cucumbers ?

That will only be a problem if you want the seeds, I grew cukes and melons in a 8' x 8' greenhouse last year (and planning the same this) without issue, but the cukes were F1 and I weren't going to collect the seeds of either.

Thanks for your reply, am abit new to growing veg, at my old house space was limited, i had a small veg patch and greenhouse, but last year we moved to a house with a huge garden, so went abit mad this year wanting to grow everything ! it was only when i bought the alan titchmarch gardening book i realised its not as simple as that ! but i will get there ! Hopefully !
