  • Purple haze carrots - orange thinnings??

The thinnings I pulled from my purple haze carrot tub are orange - is it normal for immature purple haze carrots (just under 1 cm in diameter) to be orange instead of purple?

I think so!..never grown them myself- but they are babies- so , it seems OK to me

I grew some last year and I've some in at the mo, even when they mature they have an orange "haze" through the purple.

I grew purple carrots once (sorry, I can't remember the variety). Some of the thinnings were quite orange. Even some of the full sized carrots had occasional patches of orange.

It's normal: they aren't purple all the way through, just in the skin

Thanks all. I noticed a couple of very tiny patches of purple on two thinnings today - I guess it builds up as the root matures.
