Pumpkins and Mypex?

I already had weed control fabric down and planted my pumpkins through holes cut in it. I've done this every year we've grown pumpkins and it's never done them any harm. Just planted an upturned plastic bottle right next to them to make watering a bit easier, and they generally do okay

I lay the Mypex after spring cultivation around March, this does away with the need to weed the squash plot at all. I plant through it and finally remove the membrane after harvest so I can add more compost.
Mypex does not sour the soil because it allows air and water through. It does however reduce water loss and keeps the squash clean.
I use the same technique with sweetcorn

I'm growing in beds for the first time this year so I put some down were I'm growing courgettes and planted into it the same way SarzWix has.
Had to really or the local cats would soon use it for a litter tray
