  • Pumpkins just appearing

So I planted pumpkin seeds ages ago and they are just popping up now. Is it too late for these ?????

Really? Oooh goody. My squash and courgies are way behind cos of the ridiculously late frost we had which knocked em back. This gives me some hope

I've got four different types of pumpkin and two of the plants have got babies. I'm thrilled. As I've room for one more, I planted the seed today.

How do pumpkins actually work? Bruno the Ghost Rider pumpkin has leaves as big as dinner plates. I've just nipped out, and seen may be two buds near the base. The leaves seem to be getting bigger on a daily basis, and I make sure I water it daily to prevent dehydration. Have read that they like their cousins once removed the BNS are fairly greedy feeders, so a bit of tomato feed is on the menu.

The one with babies already is an Atlantic Giant, but by far the biggest leaves, as you say like dinner plates are on the plants donated to me by a generous grape who had them from SMT. It sounds like you are doing everything right, so good luck.

All right, dinner sized plates are now bordering on Hub Cap sized. Monster Truck sized hub caps. Can even see some flower bud type things, couldn't tell you whether they are boys or girls lest I get swallowed up or something. Bruno the Ghost rider is flexing his muscles and scaring the bay-jaysus out of Gladys the BNS.

According to Ma, there are two diddy pumpkins nestled somewhere in Bruno the Ghost Rider. Having observed the fickleness of Gladys the BNS, I'm trying to be more patiently observant. There are both girl bits and boy bits. So that's a bonus. Thing is, Bruno is huge! leaves and everything. So I'm a little worried as whether the baby pumpkins are going to have a fighting chance. Should I just do what I am with Gladys, stand back, do nothing, and let the thing be?
