  • PSB ready?

Did I pick this too early? The plants are confusing me by producing short spears all over rather than starting at the top....

I always wait until the flower head has emerged fully and is purple all over, no green or yellow bits.

I would of waited a tad longer but its still edible, picked my first last weekend. Mine are a deep red variety and are more along the line of a Tendershoot PSB but was dead chuffed as its my first PSB success, two previous years it bolted before I had chance to pick any.

        Mine isn't doing anything yet

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

          Thanks everyone.

Alison, mine appeared to be doing nothing a week ago. There's still time!

Mine, as a plant is growing lovely. I planted them quite late last year though so I'm not surprised they havn't gave me any sphere's yet.

I'm still harvesting last year's psb. It has gone on producing since December with some plants maturing very early and some taking forever. Mustn't complain I guess but I'm quite baffled!

When you say last year's, do you mean the seeds you sowed this time last year? Surely that's right, it's just that some of it came early. Sorry if I've misunderstood but I'm normally only digging my last plant out in late May.

I have a fridge full of PSB, i had 5 plants but 2 came in full shoots to harvest all at once, loving it though and will miss it once its finished. I had the white last year and I've missed that so next year a mixed of them both i think.
Had to pull one out yesterday as it was covered thickly of greenfly and their egg things

Oh p.s i would have left that for a fair bit longer.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them
