I dug up my failed worm tower experminent. The worms did like it, and maybe in time it would have worked, but they simply didn't get through hardly any material. I did find worms living alongside it and laying eggs there though.
Most interesting though, was that a potato plant had grown from a piece of potato peeling. Here's the proof.
I also trench composted in another area and there were a couple similar weedy-looking plants that made it above ground there, amongst the larger potato plants I am growing in that area, so I pulled those small ones up to lower possibility of introducing a disease I don't want my proper potatoes to get.
This puts me back in the situation where I either need to convert my wheelie bin into a compost tumbler to get through my garden and kitchen waste, or pay the council to collect the bin ever other week.

The previous occupant of my allotment must have grown nowt but leeks and potatoes because even though I've dug the entire plot over I'm STILL getting potatoes sprouting in all manner of places 
Last week I spent a good hour carefully removing them from my flower bed!!!! They're now planted in the proper tattie bed! 
What amazed me was hat some seemed to be shooting up from the tiniest bits of gnarled old potato skin!
