  • Potting on cabbages?

    Another n00b question from me...

It's the 8 young summer cabbage plants at the right of this module tray:

This is the first year I've had a greenhouse. Usually by the time my plants have got to this stage it's time to harden off and plant out, but my feeling is that it's a bit early yet to do this.

    So, should I:
    - leave them in the modules for a couple more weeks; or
    - pot them up individually to give them a bit more room; or
    - start hardening them off and put them out next week anyway?

    Thanks!

I'd pot them on individually, let them settle in the greenhouse (am assuming it's not heated) then harden them off when they're OK.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I melt holes in the bottom of 500g/ml yoghurt pots and plant into those so I can bury the plants up to their first leaves without squashing the existing roots. I have no idea if this is worth doing but it feels right!

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

They are looking really healthy Martin so I would be tempted to do nothing, you seem to have it cracked.

I would pot them on, but that's just how I do it

Thanks all. They are now in individual pots and I've put some babies into the vacated modules.
